To mark its 100th episode, The Big Bang Theory is trying a first — and it has Kaley Cuoco slightly nervous. “The episode is a little different from what we’ve done. It plays a misguided trick on the audience until the end, so people might be confused, but it’s very well done,” she tells TVGuide.com. “I hope people like it! The audience that we shot in front of loved it, so that’s a good start.” Titled “The Recombination Hypothesis,” the milestone episode centers on the relationship that started the hit series: Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Cuoco). While calling back to the pilot — when Leonard first laid eyes on Penny, of course — the installment will explore a possible reconciliation between the two after he asks her out to dinner. The promo, as seen below, shows the former couple, who broke up in Season 3 when Penny didn’t return his “I love you,” locking lips — but that may or may not be real. “It’s one of those what-ifs,” Cuoco says. “We see what they’re both thinking a little bit and what everyone’s feeling. They’re both kinda like, ‘If we do go on this date, what will happen?’ They both build it up in their minds and then you find out in the end what’s really going on, but there are definitely a lot of questions throughout. It was extremely smart and well-written and witty. It’s a slightly different angle, and after five and a half seasons, you have to take some chances.” Because of the various scenarios floating around in their heads, nothing really happens in the episode until the end reveal, Cuoco says. That will set up the following episode, which will offer more insight into whether Penny and Leonard get back together. “They’re not done,” Cuoco teases. “The dinner is going to be a good jumping-off point to what they’re going to start and try doing.” With Penny having drunkenly admitted to Raj (Kunal Nayyar) that she regretted breaking up with Leonard, would it be fair to assume that she wants to start dating again? “I think even if she wants to, there are a lot of things to [consider] and it’s definitely not easy for them to just start dating again,” Cuoco says. “Their friendship is finally going well. I think what people can expect is that they’re a little older now, slightly more mature, so there won’t be some crazy, horrible drama. They each understand where the other stands.” Still, Cuoco — who does not know the writers’ plans for Leonard and Penny — believes that it will “take awhile” for the duo to work everything out and truly reunite. And when they do, she hopes it’s for good. “I do hope they end up together. I don’t see the show ending any time soon, so it would probably be awhile down the road,” she says. “I enjoy the back and forth. It’s extremely realistic, especially when two people live next door and have dated and have loved each other. You break up and you have to deal with your friends and think, ‘I don’t know. I may still love this person.’ Leonard is very special to Penny and vice versa. I think they foresee that this could be a life-changing relationship, but I think that’s also why they’re moving slowly with it and are looking back and ahead.” As far as looking back goes for Cuoco, that’s one thing she doesn’t want to do — when it comes to the pilot at least. Executive producers Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Steve Molaro re-watched the pilot before writing the 100th episode, but Cuoco made sure to steer clear of it. “Oh, no. I’ve seen that thing way too many times!” she says. “It’s a great pilot — I’m so proud of it and I love that [this episode] takes us back to it— but I can remember every outfit I wore in that. I don’t need to see that again for a while! Maybe by the 200th!” |

“Our whole universe was in a hot dense state, then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. Wait…” We won’t sing the whole song for you (although we’re proud to say we can) we just wanted to get you pumped up in anticipation for tonight’s 100th episode of The Big Bang Theory! We interviewed our favorite geek-chic cast at their 100th episode bash and we’ve got all the scoop on tonight’s “quirky” and deceitfully fun plot twists… Creator Chuck Lorre revealed that the audience can expect to see an homage to the pilot in tonight’s episode. “Well, we’re kind of circling back to where we started with Leonard and Penny. That romance is where we started and it felt right to kind of come back to that in the 100th episode.” There are plenty of small touches throughout the episode that are going to make even the most devoted BBT fans feel appreciated. Fun fact: When Leonard comes in to ask Penny on another “first date” she is wearing the same shirt as the pilot when he first laid eyes on her across the hall. Awww! “The writers wanted to do something special for the 100th and I think they accomplished that,” the always-adorable Kaley Cuoco told us. “It’s like one we’ve never done before. It’s kind of a mind game. You won’t figure it out until the end.” Golden Globe nominee Johnny Galecki echoed her thoughts saying there are a lot of “layers” to this episode. “There’s a big twist, a bigger twist than I think we’ve ever done on this show.” Galecki continues. “It’s a departure for us, there’s a lot of nearby parallel universes and fantasies.” MORE: Vampire Diaries Star Teases Tonight’s Episode: “There Will Be Blood!” Melissa Rauch gave us more of an explanation: “It’s kind of a journey with Leonard and Penny and revealing what may happen with them and the rest of the cast is looking on.” Keyword here being “may.” Let’s put our speculation caps on, shall we? We’re guessing that this episode is going to feature some alternate parallel universe in which Leonard and Penny explore their feeling for each other but in the end it’s not the reality that we’ve been watching for the past 100 episodes. Deep, huh? But if Leonard and Penny are going to be out on another “first date,” what is Sheldon going to be up to? Fixating on a life-size cardboard cutout of Spock of course! “I think Sheldon is up to being typical Sheldon; he’s not making any great strides in that episode,” Jim Parsons tells us with a smile. “I spend a decent amount of time playing a certain board game with Wolowitz and Koothrappali and it was a nice just “staying the course” episode for me.” And after the excitement and perfection of last week’s first Shamy kiss, fans will probably be all right with Sheldon’s normal neurotics. Whatever happens in tonight’s episode is sure to be a memorable experience and something that everyone will be talking about tomorrow. Galecki sums it up: “I can tell you it’s one of my favorite episodes. It might be our proudest moment.” Take a gander below at this sneak peak clip of Leonard and Penny on their second first date from tonight’s episode! Make sure to check out the 100th episode of The Big Bang Theory tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS! |

2012 will be a big year for The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco. In January Kaley will take on hosting duties for the People’s Choice Awards and henceforth spend every free moment planning her dream wedding to fiancé Josh ‘Lazie’ Resnik. “I don’t know why they asked me… they’re crazy,” joked Cuoco of her appointment as host to the 38th annual PCAs. Kaley admits that relieving Queen Latifah from her consecutive, five-year stint is a daunting task, but one she is excited to take on –as long as she can manage to keep her balance in the obligatory sky-high heels. “[The shoes are] always an issue. Very scary- It’s like stilts… Other than that I’m pretty good in front of a crowd. I can be ‘on,’ but I worry about those shoes.” A cherry on top of hosting the January ceremony comes in the form of her PCA nomination for favorite TV comedy actress. “It’s my first time being nominated for anything so I was very excited,” she gushed. “We take the People’s Choice [Awards] so seriously.” As far as her plans for after she wraps her gig, Kaley says she’s ready for the planning stage of her nuptials as she already has “a lot of wedding stuff” lying around her house. Cuoco confesses she is well prepared to tie the knot thanks in part to an addiction to the reality shows Say Yes to The Dress and My Fair Wedding. “It’s kind of a sickness,” she said. “I watch that all the time. That’s all I watch.” Don’t miss Kaley when she hosts the People’s Choice Awards when it airs Wednesday January 11, 2012. |

“I am a jeans lover,” says Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco. “I literally live in them. So I wanted them to be as comfortable as they make me feel.” The actress searched high and low for her perfect pair, but was never able to find them. So when Raven Denim creative director Yael Torbati asked her to co-design a pair for the brand, she jumped at the chance. Now available online, the “Kaley” skinny jeans ($193) come in dark olive or jet and feature zipper details. “It’s very clean and sexy, a perfect skinny to dress up or down,” Torbati says, adding that Cuoco was the perfect guest designer. “We selected [her] for her casual offbeat charm and cool, approachable style.” For every pair of “Kaley” skinnies sold, Raven will donate 20 percent of proceeds to the Friends of Animal Foundation. “It wasn’t a tough choice,” Cuoco, an animal lover, says of selecting the charity. “We have to give a voice to the creatures that don’t have one.” |

Kaley Cuoco, Penny, of “The Big Bang Theory” gives an emphatic “absolutely not” when Zap2it asks if she would go on “Dancing With the Stars.” She’s quick to add she’s not putting down the show, but just never wants to be on it. “I think for the people on the show, great,” Cuoco says. “I just feel like if it ever came to that point, for me personally, it’s just time to be done. I want to be an actor I don’t want to be a celebrity.” Cuoco, however, isn’t against all reality shows. She loves competition shows, especially “Project Runway,” “The Biggest Loser” and “Top Chef.” “Iron Chef is a riot,” she says. “I have been begging to go on that show and be a judge on ‘Iron Chef.’ They have different actors.” |

On Thursday’s Big Bang Theory, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) will take a stab at something they’ve yet to try during their long and complicated relationship: going out as friends. Looking for a companion to the movies, Penny will turn to a very confused Leonard for company as the two will attempt to navigate spending time together — and free of the likes of Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and company — for the first time since their breakup. Considering their history — he professed his love for her and she thanked him, partially leading to their ultimate split — things won’t go as smoothly as can be expected for two friends with a complex romantic history. “It kind of works out well then blows up in their face and they’re not quite sure how they feel about it,” Cuoco tells The Hollywood Reporter. “[They're] learning about each other in a nonsexual relationship, which is basically all they had before.” Cuoco says their “friendship date” will hit a rough patch when the neighbors wind up at a bar and both Penny and Leonard begin flirting with other people with motives that aren’t completely on the up-and-up. “They’re both flirting with someone to make the other one jealous and they’re pretending the whole time that they’re not jealous but it turns out that they are,” Cuoco says, noting that the experience will be (another) learning experience for each of them. “There’s definitely some flirting and some jealousy with other people and them realizing that maybe they’re not ready to hang out with each other and date other people,” Cuoco says. “I think they still have a protectiveness over each other and are just not ready to 100 percent let go yet.” While Penny has been spending much of her free time lately with “besties” Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), the movie night with Leonard will serve as a reminder of her feelings for the lovable nerd across the hall. “It shows that there’s always going to be that special place in each other’s hearts for each other,” Cuoco says. “Their being friends is a nice turn, and I think it’s going to make them love each other even more and hopefully, at the end of the day, end up together.” “I think there’s a soft spot for Leonard and Penny,” she notes. “If I was watching the show, and I might be biased, I’d want them to end up together and I think a lot of fans want that, too. It’s just finding the right path back to their relationship.” The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS. |
